Hello and happy Sunday! Today I am sharing my 6th post in my Satisfying Scriptures series. (read my last post here.) This week, I am talking about approval from God, and not others.
Today's verses: Matthew 6:1- "Be careful! When you do good things, don't do them in front of people to be seen by them. If you do that, then you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." Ephesians 5:8- "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Do everything you ever do to glorify the Lord. Always do it for Him, not to look good, or to get approval from your friends. Matthew chapter 6 talks all about this if you ever want to read more. Later in chapter 6 it says, "And when you pray, do not be like hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your bedroom, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you." What this chapter is saying is that you shouldn't pray, give to the needy, or fast just so others will think better of you. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of you, other than God, so seek God's kingdom and his righteousness, and He will reward you! Don't brag about yourself or what you did to others just to make you look better, because God already saw what you did, and he will reward you. I hope you enjoyed this Sunday's verses, have an amazing week! xoxo, The Georgian Prep
