Hey guys! If y'all don't know what Scripture Sunday is, it's basically where I share some of my favorite scriptures each week. Today, I will be talking about three verses that mean a lot to me. 1 Thessalonians 5:11- Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact your are doing.
Proverbs 11:27- Anyone can find the dirt in someone. Be the one who finds the gold. Proverbs 16:24- Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. I have seen a lot of bullying lately, and that is not OK. I can't seem to figure out how tearing another person down makes you feel better. Wouldn't it feel a lot better to share kind words about someone than picking on them? We rise by lifting others. I'm not saying you have to be best friends with everyone you know, but at least try to be nice. It will make you a much better person and it will make them feel a lot better too. Proverbs 11:27 is one of my favorite verses ever. Instead of finding someone's flaws and picking on them, give them a complement! That's all that I have to say today, and if you're getting bullied remember this; turn the other cheek. Don't turn around and be mean to them again because that will only make matters worse. If you don't let their rude words get to you, they will stop because they will see that you are so much stronger than what they think. You do you, girl! have a great week! xoxo, The Georgian Prep

Hey guys! I love doing my nails, but I'm not the most talented at getting the polish on all of my nail without the polish all over my fingers (anyone else?). My mom saw an ad in Ulta's emails about a brand called Flowery that makes nail polish correcting pens. Today, I will be showing y'all how to do DIY water-marble nails, and then use the pen to take the polish off my skin. (I also apologize for the quality of these pictures, it's kind of hard to take them when you have nail polish on your fingers!) You will need a bowl, toothpicks, water, and at least 2 colors of nail polish (and a top coat if you would like). I used Zoya purple (I don't know the shade) and pink polish in the shade "Mae". For my top coat I am using Big Matte Top Coat by Sally Hansen. You will also need something to get the polish off, like nail polish remover, or a corrector pen like this one. The first thing you need to do is take your first color and let it drip into the water (don't wipe off the brush like you would if you were putting it straight onto your fingers). It should spread out into a thin blob on the surface of the water and it will look really cool! Now, keep dripping polish in the center of the last blob until you've made something that looks like this. (Sometimes, the polish won't spread out and it will just stay a little drop of polish. Just keep trying again until it spreads!) Now, take your toothpick and make swirls or lines in the polish. (this isn't a very good example, but unfortunately it's the only picture I took of this step) Here's the messy part. Pick a spot in the swirls you've created and gently dip your finger in the bowl, The design should stick on the nail. After you've taken your finger out, take another toothpick and drag it in the water to pick all of the polish out of the bowl. After I did all of my nails, this is what they looked like. Now you will need your nail polish remover or a correcting pen. So this is what the Flowery nail correcting pen looks like. On the front end there is one brush that is slightly damp.... and on the back end there are three replacer tips. Basically, all you have to do is press and rup the brush where you have polish About halfway through, I decided it was taking way too long, so I used nail polish remover instead. I've used the pen before on a little polish, and it worked great, but I think the more polish you have on your fingers, it gets dried out easier. Overall, I'm a little disappointed, but I'll try again when it can dampen up some. Here is the finished product. I hope you enjoyed today's post and are inspired to water-marble your nails. If you did, let me know how they turned out! So today my mom and I went to Old Navy and they had the cutest things for spring and summer! My try-on pile was huge, but I managed to try everything on in a short period of time. I took pictures of everything on the hangers and most of the clothes on my body (some of the items were see-through). A lot of this stuff is from the kids' section, but the biggest size fit me fine. Also, please excuse my mirror selfie skills and the lighting, they aren't that great! Let's get started! Pom-pom trim top First off, I will start with the items I didn't take a picture of on my body. This pink top with pom-pom trim is super cute, and I'm so bummed it was see-through! I also took the white version to try on, but there were a couple other colors, too. I could not find this top on their website, so it won't be linked. Off-the-shoulder floral ruffle dress This dress is an off-the-shoulder ruffle trim dress with falling flowers. I loved this dress, but you could see right through it so I had to put it back. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=497196012 Printed tunic The rest of these pieces I have a picture of them on my body. Y'all. This tunic is adorable and it kind of reminds me of a Lilly print (is that just me?). It is so soft and was on sale for $5. What a steal! Unfortunately, since it was on clearance it is not on their website, but you might be able to find it in store. Seersucker Shorts The shorts I was wearing with the last top are these adorable seersucker shorts that look just like J Crew chino shorts. they fit good, so I took them home with me. (the link is the same style but a different print) http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=6&pid=504105002 Floral romper This floral romper has a tie at the waist and it buttons-up from there. I have been looking for a romper for a while now, and I'm so glad I found one that fits! I thought this would be perfect for my trip to Hawaii in June. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=770089002 High-neck floral dress This dress is a high-neck floral dress, almost like a fit and flare dress. I love the cut and the fit of this dress, so I got it. It goes down to a little above the knee, so it's a good length for school. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=495939022 Floral swing dress This floral swing dress was in the women's section. I thought this dress was super pretty, however, I didn't really like the way it fit, so I put it back. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=502544012 Knit swing dress This was another one of the dresses in the womens' section. It is a black swing dress with white detailing. I think it would be cute with a cardigan in the winter, but I didn't think I would wear it that much in the summer. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=3&pid=506410142 Floral off-the-shoulder top (tons of floral, I know) This top is one of my favorites! It is an off-the-shoulder top with stripes of flowers. The top is smocked, so it stays on your shoulders. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=499619012 Coral and white striped peplum top This top is so soft and adorable! It is also available in a few other colors, but I liked this one best! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=497812022 Navy shorts These shorts are the same as the seersucker ones, they are just in navy. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=504098112 Yellow tee with sleeve detailing I've been needing a yellow tee for a while, and I think the holes in the sleeve add the perfect touch of detailing. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=508431002 Patterned kimono I thought this kimono was super cute for spring, but I didn't really like the way if fit, so I put it back. http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=503431012 Gold foil pineapple tee Two words. Gold. Pineapples. This tee was so pretty, and how could I turn down golden pineapples? Yes, please! Unfortunately, they did not have this tee on their website. Sorry! White eyelet top
this top can be worn on or off the shoulder, but I liked it on better. It has eyelets all over adding the perfect detailing. it is currently $17, but I got mine for $5! http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=497785042 Thank you so much for reading this post and I hope you enjoyed! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Hey guys! Today's post will be all about my wish list (and some of my favorite things) for spring. Also, I think I might have a schedule set up for my posts. I will try my best to post at least twice a week, on Wednesdays and Sundays. Without further ado, let's get started! Shoes The first thing I'll be talking about is shoes. I think everyone NEEDS a cute pair of sneakers for the spring/ summer. Whether it's Adidas, Nikes, or New Balance, I think sneakes are great for a t-shirt and shorts. My personal favorite has to be Converse because the come in a lot of adorable colors and they hold up pretty well, too. These white low tops match with pretty much everything. Out of all of the shoes you can wear, my favorite type is absolutely sandals (duh). Although I don't own any Jacks, these gold ones are on my wish list. I feel like these would pair so nicely with just about anything. My favorite pair of shoes this year are my brown gladiator-type sandals from DSW. I wear them just about everyday because they are actually very comfortable. The last pair of shoes I will be talking about are my black Birkenstock-lookalike sandals from Target for $22. I love these so much, I might go back and buy them in another color! I've tried on real Birkenstocks before, but I thought these were a lot more comfortable. Plus, they look great with a t-shirt and Nike shorts for a casual day. Shorts There are so many shorts with fun patterns (my favorite kind) that can pair with a solid color top and look so good. My personal favorite include Lilly Pulitzer and Old Navy. These are the 5 inch Buttercup Scallop Hem Short in the print Oh Shello. Oh Shello is one of my favorite Lilly prints and come on, look at the scallops! I love Old Navy because they have adorable, trendy clothing for an amazing price! These pineapple printed shorts are so adorable and get this; they're currently on sale for $11.50! T-shirts and Tops I love being comfortable and preppy t-shirts are great for that. Some of my favorite brands include Jadelynn Brooke, Vineyard Vines, Lauren James, Southern Shirt Co., and Bartholomew the Original. Since there are so many adorable t-shirts out there I will only picture my 3 favorites. This Jadelynn Brooke V-neck is so cute and super soft. The design on the back has such amazing detailing and the quote couldn't describe my life any better! This Bartholomew the Original tee might be the most comfortable shirt I own. The material is stretchy, and soft at the same time. The logo on the back looks just like a Lilly print and Bartholomew is so cute! One of my favorite trends this year is the peplum style top. I think this style can be worn down, or dressed up with a nice necklace. I have also been loving the cold shoulder and the off-the-shoulder trend. This top from Old Navy is actually in the girl's section, but it fit me fine. The blue trim on the ruffle adds the perfect touch of color! Jewelry Finally, I'll be sharing my favorite jewelry. My Kendra Scott necklace is like a baby to me, I love it so much! I wear it almost every day because it matches everything and makes every outfit look so elegant. I have the Elisa necklace in ivory pearl, but I also want it in the drusy version. My favorite bracelets have to be from Sashka Co. These bracelets are hand-woven by artisans in Nepal. Each bracelet purchased provides a full time job for one of the artisans. Not only are these bracelets so cute and simple, but they're for a good cause! The bracelets are $13 each, but you can get 25% off your purchase with my code TGP25 ! Thank you so much for reading (sorry it was so long)! I have all of the products pictured linked below.

Welcome or welcome back to my blog! I wanted to start a series of my favorite scriptures from the Bible, and what's a better way than to start it on Easter! Scripture Sunday will be a series of posts where I talk about Bible verses that I have been loving lately. Today, I will be sharing three of my favorite Easter verses.
John 14:5-7; Thomas said to him, " Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?" Jesus answered, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes through the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him." Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. If you want to become closer to God, and be better human, there is no other way to do it than through Jesus by praying, reading your Bible, and being nice and respectful to everyone around you. Jesus will guide you when you are lost, you only have to talk to him! John 15:5; I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. This verse is very similar to the last one. You can do nothing without Jesus, but with him you will do great things. John 20:29; Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Why do we believe in God if we can't see him? Faith. We know that he died on the cross to save us from our sins. Even though we cannot see him we still believe. I hope everyone had a great day with their families, and that everyone remembers the reason for the season. Have a great week! #heisrisen xoxo, The Georgian Prep Diy tassel garlandhi there! So the other day I was browsing Pinterest and I came across this adorable DIY tissue paper tassel garland. It reminded me of one I was going to buy at Hobby Lobby, but I thought it was kind of expensive for some tassels and string, so I waited to see if I could find anything else (thank God for Pinterest!). That's why in today's post I will be showing y'all how to make this DIY tassel garland. For this project you will only need 4 things: Tissue paper (2 sheets will make 8 tassels) String or ribbon Hot glue gun Scissors The first thing you need to do is choose what color(s) tissue paper you want. I chose silver and white polka dot and plain white tissue paper. Pick one of the colors to start with. First, unfold one piece of paper with the design facing down. Fold the piece of paper down, or lengthwise. Fold it over, or widthwise. Then, widthwise again. Now, cut it's time to cut the tassels! Leave about one inch or so from the top, and make sure you cut from the bottom (the side that's not folded). Once you've cut all the way through, unfold the tissue paper from the side. Cut all the way through the center of the paper, dividing it in two pieces.(the section on the right should automatically be two pieces after you cut it, so you are technically cutting it into three pieces) Next, unfold the section on the left and cut through the center of that piece. You should now have four sections of tissue paper. Unfold one of them and set the others aside. From here, roll the top of the section all the way to the bottom. Once you've rolled it all the way up, twist the rolled part (don't twist the fringe). Now, "bend" the rolled part of the paper so it forms a loop. Next, hot-glue where the two twisted sections meet. (where my thumb is) That's it! Now, repeat the steps with the other three sections and any other color you chose. Here are all of the tassels I made. Now, you just need to cut whatever string you chose and string it through the holes on the tassels. Here is my finished garland... and here it is hanging on my wall! I know my explanation made it sound like a long process, but this took me about ten minutes to make the whole thing and it turned out super cute! The white tassels are a bit longer than the silver ones because the sheets are bigger, but you can always trim it off if you don't like the un-even ends.
I hope you were inspired by today's post to make your own garland! If you made your own, tag me on Instagram (@thegeorgianprep) so I can see how yours turned out! Thank you so much for reading! xoxo, The Georgian Prep |
