I know many of my readers start back to school in mid-August, and some even in September, but exactly a week from today I start back.:( That's why some of my back to school posts have come a little early. Anyways, today I'm sharing my top four favorite bookbags! L.L. Bean Quad Pack- $79.95 (Sorry for the picture, my computer WOULD NOT LOAD) This is actually the backpack I am using this year, and I would 10/10 recommend! It is so huge, and has lots of pockets to keep you organized! I actually reviewed it, click here to read more! Jadelynn Brooke Miss Independent Backpack -$58 I've never used a Jadelynn Brooke book bag, but I've heared some great things about them! This backpack has a padded laptop and tablet sleeve to keep them nice and protected! It also features two side water bottle pockets and an extra pouch on the front! This print is absolutely adorable, but it also comes in two other patterns! PB Teen Gear Up backpack-$35 This book bag has lots of features including a laptop sleeve, two front pockets, a ring for a keychain, and two side water bottle pockets. I've personally never used a PB Teen book bag, but a friend of mine has, and she loves hers! Can we talk about this ADORABLE pinstripe pattern? There are many other patterns to choose from, including anchors, polka dots, and gingham. It was so hard to pick a favorite! Also, this backpack is on sale for only $35 instead of $50! The North Face Jester Backpack- $69
I feel like North Face book bags are a classic and I just love the Jester style. Just like the past book bags, the Jester features a laptop sleeve and two water bottle pockets. In the front zipper is an organizational panel to keep your smaller items together. It also comes is 23 other colors! Those were my favorite backpacks, perfect for any student who needs to stay comfortable and organized! I hope you enjoyed! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Hello and happy Sunday! Today I am sharing my 6th post in my Satisfying Scriptures series. (read my last post here.) This week, I am talking about approval from God, and not others.
Today's verses: Matthew 6:1- "Be careful! When you do good things, don't do them in front of people to be seen by them. If you do that, then you will have no reward from your Father in heaven." Ephesians 5:8- "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Do everything you ever do to glorify the Lord. Always do it for Him, not to look good, or to get approval from your friends. Matthew chapter 6 talks all about this if you ever want to read more. Later in chapter 6 it says, "And when you pray, do not be like hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your bedroom, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you." What this chapter is saying is that you shouldn't pray, give to the needy, or fast just so others will think better of you. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of you, other than God, so seek God's kingdom and his righteousness, and He will reward you! Don't brag about yourself or what you did to others just to make you look better, because God already saw what you did, and he will reward you. I hope you enjoyed this Sunday's verses, have an amazing week! xoxo, The Georgian Prep I know everyone is dreading the words "back to school", but I only have one week left of summer, so I thought I could show y'all what I have in my backpack. My book bag is the Quad Pack from L.L.Bean, and I love it! I got it in the mint green color, but there are several other options, too. (I'm sorry for the low quality pictures, the ground was wet when I needed to take them outside.) L.L.Bean Quad Pack -$79 This is what the outside of the backpack looks like. L.L.Bean is currently having a sale, so you can save 20% if you use the code KIDS20 at checkout! On the front hangs my keychain from Southern Girl Prep. You can also use my code "thegeorgianprep15off" for 15% off your purchase! Right above the keychain is a little fleece-lined pocket to protect your phone or sunglasses. That's probably where i'll keep my phone when school starts. If you look directly below the keychain on the first picture, you will see a buckle. After you unclip it, there is another zipper that leads to my pencil pouch. My pencil pouch is just a blue and clear pouch with three rings for clipping it in a binder. It holds my basic supplies like pens, pencils, and highlighters. One thing I like to do to stay organized is to group like items together, like all of your pens bundled together. It makes finding your favorite pencil so much easier by just pulling out the bundle and slipping it out, rather than having to dig through your entire pencil pouch to find it. The zipper to the left of the last one opens up to another small pocket perfect for pens, or even your phone. The next zipper leads to another fleece-lined pouch, which is where I will keep my scissors. The first full pouch has a compartment to keep you nice and organized. The top pocket holds my crayons, colored pencils, and markers. My tape and pens are in the next two pockets. Towards the bottom are two small pockets, right now nothing is in the left, but I have my glue stick in the right pouch. Another thing I love about this book bag is that it has spaces for pens or pencils, so if you ever forget your pencil pouch, you have a backup! There is also a clip for hand sanitizer or a key. In the main pocket is where you will find my books, binders, and notebooks. I was able to fit two binders, three notebooks, a folder, and two composition books with room to spare! This backpack is HUGE which makes it perfect for me! The Quad pack even has a padded sleeve for your laptop to keep it protected! Attached to the top is a small pouch for your phone if you were listening to music, where your headphones can tread through to the outside of the backpack. The very last pocket is on the backside of the bock bag is another padded sleeve for a laptop. How cool is that? On both sides of the book bag are mesh pockets for water bottles. The straps and back are super padded which makes carrying 20 pounds of books much easier on your shoulders. Overall, I think the L.L. Bean Quad pack is the perfect book bag to keep you super organized. I love it and cant wait to use it for the next couple of years!
xoxo, The Georgian Prep Hey y'all! Today I wanted to review my Jadelynn Brooke collection here on the blog to give details about each clothing item I have. Incase you aren't familiar with Jadelynn Brooke, I can enlighten you! Jadelynn Brooke is a company based out of Texas owned by three super sweet sisters, Jade, Lexi Lynn, and Brooke. They design and sell adorable tees, shorts, dresses, and much more! In my collection are three short sleeve tees, two long sleeve tees, a terry shirt, and a pair of shorts. As I'm writing this, I'm actually expecting a tee in the mail today! (it's an obsession!) The first items I will review are my tees! (Shop each item by clicking the name below the pictures) Places to go, ice cream to eat tank- $34 The first tee in my collection is this coral tee that says "Places to go & ice cream to eat" with a jeep and the beach in the background . The design is so detailed and absolutely PERFECT for me! On the front is their classic logo with Happy. Unfortunately this tee is all sold out, but the design is still available in a tank, which is linked above. Take me and let's go travel- $34 My next tee is this short sleeve V-neck tee that says "Take me and let's go travel" with the cutest little camera! This tee is so soft, probably the softest tee I own! I bought this tee specifically for our ten hour plane ride to Hawaii, and it kept me comfortable all plane ride long! Doer, Dreamer, Thinker- $34 My last short sleeve tee is this violet crew neck pocket tee that says "She's a doer, a dreamer, a thinker & she sees possibility everywhere." Once again this design is so detailed, and I love the quote! I have always wanted this tee, so when I saw it at a local boutique on sale I was so excited! Just a girl who decided to trust God- $39 This tee is so soft, just like all of Jadelynn Brooke's tees. It says "Just a girl who decided to trust God and go for it." It is purple, but it showed up kind of blue in the pictures. One thing I love about this tee is the little elbow patch on the sleeve! I wore this all winter long last year, and I'm sure it will be on repeat this year, too! Keeping it classy- $39 The final tee in my collection is this white long sleeve tee that says "Keeping it classy since 1776" with an American flag made of bow ties. The sleeve also has bow ties down the sleeve, which is an adorable touch. This was actually the first design from Jadelynn Brooke! How cool is that? Terry Island Paradise- $39 This shirt was actually in the wash, so I couldn't take pictures of it then, but I love it! I originally bought it to wear as a cover-up with the shorts I will be sharing next, and it was PERFECT! It is a super soft material, and just the right length. JLB shorts- $39
These shorts are a must-have for summer. They are super lightweight and moisture wicking to keep you cool. The pineapple print is adorable, but they are sold out online. They have three other prints in this style, which are all cute, too! Overall, I am highly satisfied with all of my Jadelynn Brooke purchases. Their clothes are amazing quality, and their customer service is top-notch. My birthday was a couple of days ago, and we went to a couple of fun places, so I thought I would share what we did on my birthday! We basically just hung around our house until we ate lunch at Arby's (my favorite fast-food restaurant- other than Chick-Fil-A) around 1:00. After we ate, we drove around one hour to Atlanta. My mom actually ordered me a popover from Lilly Pulitzer online, but it was a bit too small. Since I wanted to go to Lilly anyways, our plan was to exchange the popover while we were already up there, then we could shop around a bit until dinner time. I tried on a couple of things, including the Girls' Mini Franni Set. I loved it, but it did not come home with me. However, I did get the girls' Arnita Shorts, and the popover in the bigger size. Skipper Printed Popover- $98 (the popover I got) After we left Lilly, we went to Kendra Scott, which was around two minutes away from the Lilly store. I've never been into a Kendra Scott store, so I had no idea what the "Color Bar" was. It is just a screen on the wall where you can design your own jewelry and they can make it in the store. It was so cool! I designed a gold Elisa Necklace in rose quarts, because they only had certain colors pre-made. The lady who worked there got the "frame" of the necklace(the pendant where the stone would go attached to the chain), and then clamped the stone into it. (meaning she closed the stone I wanted into the pendant)If you did not know, Kendra Scott has a birthday deal where you get 50% off one item if you show them proof it is your birth month. So instead of my necklace being $50 it was only $25! After we left Kendra Scott, we killed time at a local mall before dinner. We ate at Maggiano's, then we headed back home and opened presents. I got lots of fun stuff including Chacos, a Vineyard Vines tee, and a L.L.Bean backpack which I will be reviewing on the blog next week, so be on the lookout for that! Thank y'all so much for reading! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Happy Sunday!
If this is your first time reading a Satisfying Scriptures post, it's basically where I share a verse or two that I have really been loving lately (check out my last post here). However, this week I wanted to change it up a little bit, so I will be sharing my top five favorite verses. 1. 2 Corinthians 12:10 "When you've done everything you can do, that's when God will step in and do what you can't do." Leave it all to God. Trust in Him and his timing. 2. Romans 8:31 " If God is for me, who can be against me?" God is always with you and for you. Stick with him, and you can overcome any king of obstacle. Nobody can ever can ever stop you when God is on your side, 3. Psalm 46:5 "God is within her; she will not fall." This verse is pretty much the same as the last one, but I thought I would share it anyways, since it is one of my favorites. 4. Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you may go." You've probably heard this verse before, but I love that it mentions that God is always with you. and that you should never be afraid. Just be brave, and know that God has your back! 5. Matthew 17:20 " Faith can move mountains" Trust in God, because He will help you conquer any obstacle. Your faith in him can move mountains! So those were my top five favorite bible verses! I hope you enjoyed, thank you for reading! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Hey y'all! I have really been obsessing over Lilly Pulitzer recently, so I thought I would share my top 10 favorite pieces under $100 with y'all. Let's go! Marlowe Dress- $98 I recently tried on a dress very similar to this and I loved it! The one I tried on was super comfy, and I'm sure this one is too. Luxletic Weekender Cropped Leggings- $98 I love cropped leggings like these and I think this print is so colorful and fun! 5 inch Callahan Shorts-$64 I love Lilly shorts because I think they can match with so many different colored tops, and these are no exception! I think five inches is the perfect length, too! This little top is so adorable! I love the length of the sleeves, and the little tassel on the tie is darling! Shirley top-$68 This top is so pretty, and I think the little tassels add the perfect pop of fun! Essie Top-$58 I think this tank is perfect for summer days! Katia Short-$64 I'm almost positive I tried these on one day, and they were so comfortable! These would be the perfect short for a hot day. Linden A-Line T-shirt Dress-$98 I know this dress looks a lot like the first one, I guess I really like t-shirt dresses! Plus, Oh Shello is one of my favorite prints! Skipper Printed Popover-$98 Lilly popovers are so comfy, and are perfect for chilly summer nights! Short Sleeve Marlowe Dress-$98
Lookie here, another t-shirt dress! Hey, I can't help myself! These dresses are so comfortable and fun! Those were my favorite Lilly pieces, all under $100. I hope you enjoyed today's post! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Over the past week, I decided to make these super cute Lilly Pulitzer agenda paper letters. I have seen lots of bloggers make them, so I thought I'd give it a try. It was so easy and fun, I ended up doing more DIYs with the paper. I ended up with three letters, two boxes, and one little canvas. They were all so easy, I thought I'd show y'all how to make them! What you will need You only need a couple of cheap things for this project: an old Lilly agenda, Mod Podge, a paintbrush, scissors, and whatever you plan on covering. I picked up everything from Michaels for super cheap. Step 1:Cut out the paper This is the hardest part- cutting out the paper. I mean, how could you ruin something that is so pretty? I cut out the side with the quote only, and like I said, I had enough paper for the three letters, two boxes, and the little canvas, so you don't need both sides. After you cut out the sheets, cut them into medium-sized squares. You definitely don't want to cut them too small because it will take longer to cover a larger item. Step 2: Layout the squares Before you cover your item with Mod Podge, you might want to layout the squares to make sure the prints don't blend too well- don't put a hot pink print next to another hot pink print. I only laid out the prints before with my letters because I spread the Mod Podge little sections at a time with the boxes- I'll tell you more about that later. Step 3: Apply the Mod Podge and squares Next, cover your item with an even coat of Mod Podge, then press on your square. Mod Podge dries pretty fast, so I would recommend doing it section by section. After all of the squares are applied, let it fully dry. Step 4: Trim off excess/ cover sides After the Mod Podge is fully dried, cut off the extra paper hanging off the sides, For the insides of my A and B, I made little cuts by the letter so I could fold it over easier. after it was all tucked in, I taped the paper to the back of the letter. Step 5: Cover in Mod Podge Once all of the excess paper is gone, you want to completely cover your item with the Mod Podge. Mod Podge is great because it dries clear for a glossy coating. Once the entite surface is covered, set it aside to dry, and you're done! The process is the exact same for the boxes and canvas. One thing you'll notice on the pictures is that one of the boxes and the canvas have the quote from the agenda on them. I just cut out the quote on each month, and placed it over the other squares in the middle... you'll see in the pictures! The finished letters! Box #1! The mini canvas! Box #2! I hope you enjoyed today's post! Comment below and let me know if you made your own Lilly letters, box, or canvas! xoxo, The Georgian Prep Hey guys! I feel like a lot of my readers want to start a blog, and they just don't know how. Today, I thought I would share "How to Start a Blog" and give some helpful tips for beginners. I only started blogging around four months ago, so I'm still fairly new, but I thought some of my tips would be helpful.
How to Start a Blog The first thing you need to consider before you start a blog is if you will have enough time for it. If you've decided that you can be dedicated to your blog, now it's time to pick a platform for your blog (Weebly, Wordpress, Blogger, etc.). I personally liked Weebly the best, and that's what I use now. After you create an account on Weebly, they don't give much instruction, so I just watched a couple of YouTube videos on "How to use Weebly". After watching some videos, creating my blog was pretty straightforward. I am definitely not the best person with computers, but Weebly Is so easy to use. After you create your account on whichever platform, the next thing you need to do is edit your site. I know Weebly has tons of templates to choose from, just pick one you like then change all of the titles. After that you're set! Now all you have to do is post! Tips 1. Try to post no less than once a week. You need to provide new content for your readers, so try to be consistent with your posting schedule. 2. Use high-quality pictures. 3. Use good grammar. Along with this, try to avoid short, choppy sentences. You will seem much more professional with longer, informative sentences. Also, don't use too many exclamation points. Looking back at my first couple posts, I used so many exclamation points, and that can get kind of annoying. I'm not saying to never use them, and to be completely boring, just don't use them after every sentence. 4. Post good content. Don't write a post with one paragraph, not really explaining anything. Your readers will feel like they kind of wasted their time. Instead, be informative, and interesting. Also, you don't want to talk about how much you love a certain top without showing any pictures of it. You ALWAYS want to include a picture of whatever item you're talking about. 5. Be original! Nobody wants a knock-off of another person, and whoever you're copying may get mad. Be yourself! It will make your blog much more interesting. So those were all of my tips for new bloggers! I hope this post helped. xoxo. The Georgian Prep |
